Prof. Ken Laker Obituary

Prof. Kenneth R. Laker died of complications from pneumonia and septic shock on August 2, 2023. Ken was a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania for over 30 years.

Ken (Life Fellow) was very active in IEEE and also served as IEEE president in 1999. He was also a lifelong member of the Circuits and Systems and Solid-State Circuits and president of the CASS (1983). He was also section Chair, Division Director, and Vice President of Educational Activities. He made a significant and long-lasting impact on the IEEE. For more information about his impact, I am attaching an article he wrote for the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Magazine (Summer 2021), reflecting on his role in the IEEE.

Ken was an equally successful researcher and engineer with seminal contribution in the area of (a) multi-loop feedback active-RC filters; (b) parasitic-insensitive active-SC filters; (c) SAW filters.
